Impressionism
Impressionism is an art movement that uses colors and light to show feelings rather than detailed depictions of the subject matter. Paul Cezanne was a French artist of the impressionism movement who was born on January 19, 1839. At the beginning of his career he focused on dark subjects but transitioned into focusing his artwork on nature such as farms and other rural setting (Paul Cezanne Biography). His painting View of Auvers Sur Oise is a great example of his style and subject matter. The painting focuses on the simple, rural town and uses bright colors to display the landscape. The picture uses a range of colors that are blended together to form vague shapes and lines while still allowing the painting to be a clear representation of the town. The painting was made around 1875. The painting is landscape and shows the simplicity of living in a small rural area.
