Prehistoric Stone Age
Even since the very beginning of man’s existence humans have been compelled to draw representations of what they saw around them. In the early years of humanity, before canvas existed, these drawings were made on the walls of caves. These drawings almost always depicted scenes and animals from nature and were very simple depictions. One example of these drawings is the bison in the picture below. Although nothing is known of the artist it is estimated that the painting was made around the year 30,000 B.C. (Bison). The drawing is very typical of cave art because it depicts something from nature that was very important to the people who made the art.
